The Indian Ocean is the world's third-largest ocean basin and a critical corridor for energy, commodity, and container trade connecting East Asia with Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. These systems can produce sustained winds above 100 knots and cause catastrophic damage to vessels and port infrastructure.
